I propose to recreate one of my favorite works of art, Gerhard Richter's oil painting Ema (Nude on a Staircase), in the medium of photography and as a triptych. This painting has a quality sort of reminiscent to a poorly taken photograph in the way that the entire image appears blurry as if the shutter speed was too slow and the camera moved during the shot. I want to recreate this using digital and physical manipulation of a digital photograph taken of a female nude on a staircase. For the triptych, one image will be manipulated in Photoshop to recreate the blurriness and shadowing of Richter's painting. Another will use minimal digital manipulation only to make universal edit because the printed image will be physically manipulated with acrylic paint to again recreate the blurriness and the original painting.
I will print on Somerset paper so that I will easily be able to print a photograph and paint one the same paper.

This is an interesting concept over all. I understand what you meant in saying that the painting looks like a photograph. Honestly I whole heartily agree and was shocked to find out that the image was a painting. I looking forward to seeing how you recreate this and the physical changes you make to it.
